Rich Kidd (Interview) [Video/Photos]
Toronto, ON – “Did it hit you in the eye?” Rich Kidd asks a fan after tossing his latest mixtape into the crowd at The Clipse concert in Toronto. “I’m not paying for that!”
And this is how we’ve come to know Rich Kidd; raw, unfiltered, honest and witty. Oh yeah, and talented. He recently opened for The Clipse at Circa and showed the crowd each of these qualities.
Initially renowned on the local scene as an innovative producer, he’s come into his own on the mic as of late. The release of We On Some Rich Kidd Shit Volume 3 served as a look back at his musical contributions over the last few months. While the project includes some of his production credits, his rapping also gets a chance to standout.
“As far as Rich Kidd the rapper,” says Bishop Brigante. “I’ve noticed that lyrically, he has a way of drawing you into the aura of what’s happening in the song. He has a song called “Ridin’ Solo” (off We On Some Rich Kidd Shit Volume 3) and with that song you actually feel like you’re riding with him. That’s what’s so dope about him. He’s so natural with it you feel like your in the joint. I love him rapping just as much as I love his beats.”
And Rich Kidd’s post-concert sentiments?
“Thank you for everyone that came last night, I don’t care if you came to see Clipse, your ass still had to watch me and like it! Till next time…” – Original Rich Kidd Status on Facebook.
