Lil Wayne talks Drake going Diamond with Thank Me Later [News]
Rikers Island, NY – MTV News reporter Shaheem Reid recently reported on a conversation between the incarcerated Lil Wayne and Young Money’s Mack Maine that appears on DJ Scoob Doo’s Nino Brown Story Part 3 DVD. In the conversation Weezy asks about the state of Thank Me Later and what kind of records Drake had been working on since his incarceration.
He asks Mack Maine directly” “A million in a week?”. To which he reportedly responds with “Yeah. Like a classic. Big Money”. He indicates his hope for Drake’s 1st week sales to exceed his own Carter III first week sales by an additional million. “Like 2 millon first week. I need him to do 2 million the first week, straight up”, Weezy demands.
He goes on to state that he would like Thank Me Later to achieve Diamond Status (10 million plus sales), setting the stage for his own follow-up release The Carter IV: “I need [Drake] to do diamond, and I try to top that. I need him to do that. He’s gonna sell.”
Thank Me Later is finally hitting stores tomorrow!
