Chris Stylez - Fade Away - R&B Singer - Toronto

Biography of Chris Stylez

Singer, songwriter, and musician Christopher J. Allen (known by his stage name Chris Stylez™) is an R&B artist who captivates the attention of any audience through his illustrious and melodic voice. Chris was born in Ottawa, Canada to George Allen and Yvonne Brown. The Caribbean musical artistry inherent in his family lineage transcends into his musical capacity as a multi-talented artist. His father, George Allen, is first cousin to legendary reggae artist, the honorable Jimmy Cliff; OM. Chris’s granduncle is reggae singer and record producer Harris “BB” Seaton, who was also a member of The Gaylads. Music has always been an element prevalent in his life. Chris began singing at the age of 3. He first sang Stevie Wonder’s “I just called to say I love you,” a song that would be the precursor of the emotional love ballads Chris would later pen in the beginnings of his musical career.

Chris moved to Toronto when he was fifteen years old. It was in Toronto where he began to DJ at local parties with a group of school friends. He would write rhymes over beats and rap with friends. He never saw himself as a singer, if anything acting would have been his first choice as a career. After a New Year’s Eve performance, a friend overheard him singing to one of the instrumentals of the records being played in rehearsal, and encouraged him to pursue singing. Chris continued to develop vocally, taught himself to play the guitar, through guidance from then mentor Ronnie “Bop” Williams, guitarist of legendary band The Wailers, and began to write music to the melodies he produced on his keyboard. Slowly, his musical passion re-ignited in the form of heart-felt harmonic lyrical songs. The musical styling of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and Bob Marley profoundly influenced him. Chris Stylez is sometimes compared to Soul Sensation D’Angelo, and iconic rocker Lenny Kravitz. The variation of the artists he listened helped to develop a broader range of his musical capability, and he grew to respect all forms of music, which began to show in his work.

After high school, Chris moved to New York City. He began to take acting classes and got involved in radio and television voice-overs, as a means to make money and survive. While living in New York City, he was introduced to Moe (Relentless Management) who became a mentor to Chris and helped to improve his song writing skills, by encouraging him to draw from his own life experiences, and write from the heart. After his introduction to the music industry in New York City, Chris decided to move back to Toronto. He studied Entertainment Business Management at the Toronto Film School, and graduated in 2008. While in Toronto, Chris utilized his now refined talent and business skills and began to book shows as a musical opener for various artists who came to perform in Toronto. These acts included Neyo, Jagged Edge, and Wyclef Jean.

Chris continues to build a steady audience, his self-written and self produced DREAMER EP, contains the fan favorite Fade Away and savory Without You. Chris Stylez has the musical background of one destined to become a musical legend. His music is inspired by his daily life experiences, which allow him to re-create a poetic and lyrically infused melodic narrative. His creation of relatable work moves the audience that listens to it. Chris has been heard on mix tapes and radio stations across North America such as Atlanta’s V103.3FM and Toronto’s Flow93.5FM.
