J. Moy, Richie Sosa & Set2 shoot “Spooky” video in Parkdale [News]
Toronto, ON – A warehouse in Parkdale housed the video shoot for J. Moy’s “On My Way (Remix)” Sunday. The artist formerly known as Chinx, split camera time with fellow Scarborough rappers Richie Sosa and Set2 for the remix and called on director Keith Chang to shoot the video.
“The look he was going for was like the dark knight, the batman movie,” said J. Moy later. “Not like we’re in capes and make up, but all the shots were done in black, it’s a real dark, spooky look. The concept was coming from the bottom up. So no jewelry, dark clothes, and performing our verses as the women acted as haters. They tore our shirts and pulled at us as we struggled.”
In a sequence that provoked laughter all around, one of the women straddled Richie Sosa’s back as he crawled toward the camera. As he stretched and struggled, she grabbed the sides of his face and pulled back, leaving streaks of black make up trailing. Anything but your typical music video, Chang was in full control, keeping the day long shoot running quickly.
As the sun fell, an impromptu cipher filled the air on King St. West and Set2, Richie Sosa and J. Moy scrolled through beats deciding which to tackle.
The song is a follow up to “On My Way” which featured singer Kin Smuv. Keith Chang also shot the video for that unreleased song as well. Both songs are featured on J. Moy’s upcoming release Once Upon A Time In China and will be available in the coming weeks.
