Toronto, ON – Today’s Song of the Day selection comes by request from one of our viewers named Julie out in Fredericton, New Brunswick. This is the k-os smash single “Man I Used To Be” off the 2004 album Joyful Rebellion. The song was also a winner at the 2005 MuchMusic Video Awards taking home the MuchVibe Best Rap Video Award. The album went platinum in Canada, selling over 100,000 units and peaked at #7 on the Canadian album charts. And, according to the song’s Wikipedia entry: “The song peaked at #12 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100, [citation needed] making it K-os’s highest reaching single. The single also reached #1 on the Muchmusic Countdown in 2005.[citation needed] The song tells the story of a man who has gone through rough times and wishes to be back the way he was originally. According to the Joyful Rebellion liner notes, the song is indeed about Michael Jackson in particular, as well as K-os himself (and people in general.)”
