Some of Canada’s top MCs come together as Freedom Writers [News]
Toronto, ON – Don’t call it a group, call it a movement. Freedom Writers represents a collective of some of Canada’s most talented MCs including Theo3, Tona, the legend Adam Bomb, Frankie Payne, Mathematik and up and coming lyricist Progress. Together they are working on a collaborative full-length project which, from what we’ve heard so far, will be EPIC. I’m sure a lot of people are excited to see this group of artists working together. New comer Progress had this to say about being involved with a collective of so many other talented MCS: “Definitely an honour. I’m a fan of everyone on the project. But the most important thing is the movement freedom writers represents. All of us are politically conscious artists with skills and we’re about fill a big void in the game.” The content of the project will stray from the grit of the streets and the glamour of the game and instead focuses on social commentary and political criticism that puts the injustices of the world on blast… and the things/people that piss off the MCs on smash. Freedom Writers represents freedom of speech and freedom of expression. Production is being handled by Toronto vet Big Sproxx who has quite the catalog of tunes under his belt including Point Blank’s “Born & Raised In The Ghetto (RMX)” featuring Kardinal Offishall, Empire’s “Boom N Pound” single and more. Stay tuned to HipHopCanada for more information on Freedom Writers.
