Word from Droppin Dimez Radio

WHAAAT?! It’s already mid-September!!! We’re still catching jokes from last night’s MTV Awards – man, just when we think we’re through with Kanye West, he reels us back in!! He’s got everyone making toasts to jerk-offs and douchebags everywhere — LOL!!! Time has been flying: last week we took a breather for the Labour Day long weekend, and now we’re back with a great show, great interviews and as always, tunes full of HEAT!!! DJ MelBoogie got it IN for the East @ the Scarborough Fresh Fair. This event, presented by The Manifesto, was star-studded with a vast array of our local talent, including Smash Brovaz, Ayah, Tona, A-Game, Kim Davis and more!! It was great to be a part of this celebration of youth arts & culture – you dun know that Droppin Dimez always reps the T-Dot! And while hot-footing it @ P-Reign’s listening party a couple of weeks ago (his release is pure FIRE – interview in a few weeks!), did Mel NOT get captured by paparazzi in a pic with Drake?! OK – truth be told, Mel & the lovely ladies she was with gave him a group hug that was immortalized with a picture. But come now, what’s really the difference?!

Talk about a crazy show to close out the month of August!! We had an exclusive interview with the one and only Yo-Yo, who talked about her experiences as an MC reppin’ the West Coast and looking out for the up and coming artists in hip hop. She also discussed her involvement with BET’s ‘My Mic Sounds Nice’ documentary, which was perfect since we had an interview with its director, Ava DuVernay just the week before! Our sis Masia One came thru while taking a quick break during her crazy hustle. Can’t wait for her new album on the Kops & Robbers label to drop!!! Neenah, the first ever female WINNER of Battle of the Beatmakers called us up to tell us all about taking that trophy home, Jus Randy let us know he’s back on it with some fyah, and big ups to T-Dot Exposed, for coming thru & documenting the goings-on of the DD Radio environment, as well as telling us what it’s like to expose Toronto’s business! Keep doing your thing, Lauren & Nikki, and also to DJ O? who dropped a set a few weeks ago!

Scheduled for tonight, we have a wicked lineup of guests! We’re gonna get SMASHED on a Monday night with DJ Clinton Sparks and Jester – no, not like THAT!! They’ll be telling us all about the annual Get Smashed event going down this Friday @ Solarium (where we WILL be getting smashed LITERALLY — shouts out to the birthday girl Joanne Marcano!). Also, the Ottawa duo Philly Moves will be in the building, giving us the scoop on how the nation’s capital puts it down for hip-hop! One of the busiest DJs in the GTA, Craig Brooklyn will be in tonight – dropping a sick guest set for us!!! And if you didn’t know, NOW you know! Keep it locked TONIGHT (and every Monday @ 11 PM) to DROPPIN’ DIMEZ — Canada’s ONLY All-Female Hip- Hop Radio Show (We Go Hard Until 2 AM)!! CKLN 88.1 FM OR listen LIVE at!
