Legends of the Fame: The Great Canadian Hip-Hop Card Collection [News/PSA]
Toronto, ON – Who are the names, faces and tastemakers that make hip-hop rock in Canada? Fred E Fame and the 5th Artist Development Agency set out to answer this question as they present Legends of the Fame: The Great Canadian Hip-Hop Card Collection sponsored by HipHopCanada.com. A modern version of the original sports trading card, this collection features relevant rappers, singers, producers and entrepreneurs alike, in one of the most unique marketing campaigns to ever hit Canadian indie music. The front of the cards features exclusive portraits, with a micro-bio, accomplishments and affiliations on the rear. Cards are sorted and wrapped in packages of five, complete with the traditional stick of gum and will launch on January 14th, at the official release party inside Suba Lounge.
We invite you to the Official Industry Auction, January 11th (Andy’s Pool Hall – 489 College St.) With dozens of artists already in line to be branded with their own card, this event will facilitate artistic and business networking while introducing the initial wave of trading cards. DJ Law will be the first to receive a “signature” card, in commemoration of his years of contributions to music in Canada.
This rare card will be auctioned off with proceeds going to The Remix Project. Fred E Fame teams up with Derek Jancar aka Drex, Remix Co-Founder and Director of Resources to support this renowned arts program for youth. The Remix’ mission is defined as “to help refine the raw talents of young people from across the GTA in order to help them find success as participants define it and on their own terms.” And by cultivating appreciation of those already contributing to hip-hop in Canada, Fred E Fame has created a way to support a program churning out the talents and tastemakers of tomorrow.
Legends of the Fame: The Great Canadian Hip-Hop Card Collection sponsored by HipHopCanada.com, is a fresh take on social sharing of music and culture. While viral efforts continue to play a major role in making big talents into big names, Fred E Fame believes these trading cards will provide similar excitement, but in a tangible way.
