Remembering a Legend: hip-hop cards remember Vancouver MC Sazon Diamante [News/PSA]
Toronto, ON – Fred E Fame and HipHopCanada.com have kicked off 2011 by making history with the release of the first ever Canadian hip-hop trading card Legends of the Fame. With the success of the Toronto Edition, Fred E is heading to Vancouver to continue to honour and promote Canadian hip-hop from coast-to-coast.
But the Vancouver visit is particularly special to the Vancouver hip-hop scene.
2011 marks the 10th year anniversary of the passing of a loved and respected Vancouver MC, Sazon Diamante. Sazon will be honoured with a Legends of the Fame Memorial Issue Card, sponsored by HipHopCanada.com. The card will be presented to his family, friends and fans at the annual commemorative party celebrating Sazon’s life. His brother and a legendary West Coast DJ, Kemo says’s that Sazon “never completed a full album… After he passed away I decided I had to do a 12-inch and put [his music] out.”
One of those tracks, “La Calle” is now a classic. At just 23, Sazon made a mark in Canadian hip-hop with his Latin-infused style and true love for his heritage – true to the Canada’s multi-cultural identity.
“The Memorial Issue is our way of paying homage to Sazon’s contribution to Vancouver hip-hop. The card represents Canada’s combined effort to remember one of our own gone too soon.”
This is a true representation of what the trading cards are all about – unity, commemoration and empowerment Canada wide for Sazon and the hip-hop community. You too can pay homage at the 10th Year Anniversary Party Feb 9.
