Muziklee Inzane of The Real Frequency addresses departure from Flow 93.5 [News]
Toronto, ON – Muziklee Inzane of The Real Frequency addressed the end of the show’s run on Flow 93.5 via their newsletter. His message starts below:
“Ok, big news. FLOW 93.5 FM ain’t what it used to be. I don’t really want to go into a big thing, the facts are this, CTVGlobeMedia bought the station, and like with almost every station change over they cleaned house. All the culture has been removed from the station. Including us. That’s right, Monday was our last show, you can get it here . There are no ill feelings or bitterness here, it was purely a business decision.
FLOW has tried to balance business and community for years it obviously was a losing battle. We where there for 6 years and they gave us the freedom to be us, rare in commercial radio. We thank them for that. We also thank everyone who has shown us mad love and support over the years and to this date. Continue to do so, we’re not done yet. We’ll have something for you in a few months that will represent us and the city we live in.
I wasn’t going to write a long thing and I’m in a second paragraph already, lol. The Flow thing would not be as bad if CKLN 88.1 FM, the foundation of “urban” radio in Toronto wasn’t shutting it’s doors as well. We are also glad we were part of that history.
We’re back at square one folks, yes CHRY and CIUT are still there, support them. We’re back to the days of grassroots promo etc. Certain outlets may be gone but lets not hang our heads about it, now is time to really start supporting what we have. The foundation of our house was shook, we can rebuild. It will be in different forms, support the blogs – TOFLO, CityOnMyBack , 1LoveTo, FYI, TheRealFrequency – these folks are still going to rep the scene.
We fell. Stand up dust ourselves off and move on.”
