CBC celebrates Canadian hip-hop with Hip-Hop Summit on April 1st in Toronto [News]
Toronto, ON – April 1st is a big day for Canadian hip-hop exposure and recogniton. Canadian broadcasting giant CBC is in the middle of a mammoth celebration of Canadian hip-hop called the CBC’s Hip-Hop Summit, in conjunction with Manifesto, Northside Hip-Hop, Dalton Higgins and Addi “Mindbender” Stewart.
The event will feature great performances by Thrust, DJ L’Oqenz, Q-Rock, PG; the Big Norm Show with DJ Dopey, D-Sisive, JB, Frankie Payne, Northbuck, Scott Jackson, and Diana Reyes, plus a breaker battle and much more. Even more details after the jump!
A visual exhibition will feature T-Dot Pioneers 2011: The Glenn Gould Remix, documenting the history of hip-hop in Toronto. There will also be an in-depth discussions on the eternal coming of age story of Canadian hip hop, the difficult business of being a Canadian musician, and the creative content of Canadian hip hop and culture.
Last but not least, the video broadcast premiere of the Hip-Hop Summit performance featuring: k-os, Kardinal Offishall, Shad, Saukrates, Classified, Maestro, Michie Mee, Red1 of Rascalz, Choclair, Dream Warriors, Ghetto Concept, Reema Major, Cadence Weapon, Skratch Bastid and more. INSANE!
The event will be taking place in the atrium of the CBC Broadcast Centre in Toronto, and the video premiere of the CBC Hip-Hop Summit broadcast, which will also be available on-demand in the near future.
