Charlie Sheen In “Two And A Half Men” As…Charlie Sheen [Blog/OFFbeat]

Toronto, ON – Hands up if you’re surprised about Charlie Sheen right now? His show’s been temporarily shelved, yet this is the longest episode he could ask for. I mean, is the entire media really in a frenzy over Charlie Sheen’s behavior? Really? Doesn’t anyone see the irony in the fact his sitcom has been cancelled (at least temporarily), because of his drug induced, porn star ridden, run off at the mouth lifestyle, yet the character he plays on that same sitcom is a womanizing, full-fledged drunk who lives off sarcastic one liners? Is this the elephant in the room or am I on the edge of breaking an original angle on this mess?

Charlie Sheen In Two And A Half Men As… Charlie Sheen (on

Is this one of those “art imitating life” scenarios? If you’ve ever watched Two And A Half Men and like it, it’s probably partially due to its irreverence. The kid (Jake) is half retarded, half witted and completely obnoxious. His dad (Allen) is a bigger idiot than him, only because he’s had more time to grow into it. And Charlie Sheen, who’s character is also “Charlie,” spends his days drinking, picking up women, writing jingles and clowning on: his mother, his brother, his nephew, his house keeper, his neighbor and anyone else that guest stars on the show.

So now, after watching him in this capacity on Two and a Half Men for however many seasons and now hearing and watching his real life antics of late, don’t you think the “Charlie” on the show would KILL to have a life like the real Charlie? “Charlie” is drinking bourbon. Charlie is snorting “7 gram rocks.” “Charlie” is scooping hot moms. Charlie is hugh-heffin it with a pornstar plus another woman. “Charlie” is making outlandish comments to an audience once a week. Charlie is making outlandish comments to an audience every news cycle. See where I’m going here?

I realize television is one thing and real life is another, but in this case it’s really ironic how close the two worlds seem.
