Inspire brings MC Jin, Sol Guy to Vancouver [Photos]
Vancouver, B.C. – Not a lot of MCs would travel halfway across the world – only to get turned around and sent back to Hong Kong on landing – only to make the trek again the next day. MC Jin is dedicated, and it’s probably for this very reason that he was asked to headline the 2011 Inspire series at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre. The popular Asian MC was in good company with a diverse crew of performers and an enthusiastic audience – I AM MADE Entertainment hosted the show with the express purpose of bridging cultural gaps, and between the Rwandan, Filipino and Chinese heritages there could be no doubt that diversity was attained.
Ezra Kwizera and his band opened with a lively and thought-provoking performance that had the dancers moving their feet, and The Boombox Saints gave us a flavor of old school hip-hop. JayKin performed his smooth, Japan-themed rhymes and two dance crews – A.S.S. and Dancecore Revelation – kept the visuals live. Creative set us up with some bangers, and brought some friends on stage to help provide this creative force. Always the gracious host, Sol Guy inspired everyone in the building with words of encouragement and challenge, only to be followed up by MC Jin himself delivering a powerful and prolific message.
