Friends With The Help – East Van Shit [Video]

Vancouver, B.C. – We here at HipHopCanada are obviously really high-class, but we love the filthy sounds of Friends With The Help‘s “East Van Shit.” So we’re featuring a video by Stephen Gillis that would make any Van East scrub feel right at home, from the sandwiches to the street hockey to the ridiculous rhyme schemes. Young Nige and Low Lux teamed up with the city’s slickest producer K-Rec to put together this track and a free mixtape download…you can catch both as easily as an STD after the jump.

Amalia Judith was born in Winnipeg, MB and quickly whisked away to a childhood of travel throughout California, England, Germany and predominantly Pakistan. In 2006 she completed an honor's degree in English Literature, which left her quite jobless and alone in East Van. Amalia cut her teeth at, Canada's darkest counter-culture magazine, moving on to contribute words and flicks to HipHopCanada: she's currently a member of HipHopCanada's West Coast team and has had the privilege to interview hip-hop icons like Lil' Kim, Pusha T, Big Boi, Three Six Mafia, Yelawolf, Pharrell Williams and most of Wu-Tang. Amalia also works as a Key Worker educator and advocate for families affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, as well as heading up Team Heartbreak, a media production company that pairs community involvement and artistic movements.

I would highly recommend anyone with a hip hop head to grab this mixtapeand listen from front to back I guarantee you will not be disappointed. My head nods 5 minutes after half these tracks as they are so catchy.

Mad respect to Young Nige and Low Lux for this mixtape..can’t wait for more to come.
