Press Release

2 Days. 8 Countries. 42 Emcees. Over 20 Battles! The biggest battle rap event of the year is coming to Toronto on August 5th and 6th at Club XS, featuring some of the most high profile matches ever to take place, and it’s on Canadian soil. Come out and help King of the Dot celebrate its 3rd anniversary at the most global event in battle rap history, World Domination 2.

North America squares off against the world in this competition, showcasing underground hip-hop talent from every corner of the globe. Battlers from Canada and the US will take on challengers from Australia, England, Ireland, Norway, Sweden and the Philippines in this truly international event. Fans have the chance to be exposed to battling in a way they have never seen it before, giving them the opportunity to build an appreciation for the way the scene has developed worldwide. Some people may not appreciate on first glance, the complexity of the writing and performance process present in modern-day rap battling. While heavy-hitting words and character-dissecting insults may appear otherwise, the high level of respect among the emcees is never clearer than when the battle ends and they each shake hands with a new found admiration for their past opponent. KOTD has held over 150 events in four provinces, all with performers who hold the highest level of esteem and graciousness for their position. The King of The Dot staff, performers and fans are a tight-knit community, and welcoming to newcomers. KOTD is helping to prevent violence in the streets of Toronto by working with Think Don’t Shoot Inc, and spreading a positive message of peace and respect to the community.

Canadian hip-hop legend Madchild of Swollen Members highlights a stacked performance card with his battle against West Coast veteran Dirtbag Dan. “The last time I competed in a battle was when I was inducted into the Rock Steady Crew, and in order to embrace that side of myself, I felt it was important to really immerse myself in the culture of hip-hop,” says Madchild, “I can’t think of a better way to challenge myself than to step into today’s battle arena and compete against some of the best talent from all over the world at this year’s World Domination event.” Other headlining battles include the best talent the world of battling has to offer. Canadian fan favourite Kid Twist is returning to the ring against Australia’s 360 in what promises to be one of the most comedic bouts of the event. Former KOTD champ Bender will square off with iLLmaculate in a match that pits two of the most talented lyricists in the game against one another. Pat Stay and Marv Won, two friends coming off a heated verbal altercation at this year’s Gridlock event will settle their differences with a heavyweight showdown. Thesaurus, one of the only two- time winners of the World Rap Champions, will take on England’s Eurgh in a long anticipated battle with a history that reaches all the way back to 2007. Of course, those battles are just the tip of the iceberg for this event that will also feature beat box performances, a live graffiti showcase and even a tattoo booth where once can receive official KOTD ink.

At this much anticipated event, KOTD has high profile judges coming to support and be a part of this amazing event: Slaine of La Coka Nostra (Boston), Jus Allah of Jedi Mind Tricks (Philadelphia), Reef The Lose Cauze of AOTP (Philadelphia) and Sabac Red of Non Phixion (New York City and California) will be featured guest judges.

These artists will also be performing at the official KOTD WD2 After-party, Raps Of The Titans 3 starting after the end of WD2 at the closing of the event on Saturday, August 6th at 9:00pm. This event is at The Opera House, 728 Queen St East, TORONTO, ON, Canada. Tickets –
