The Extremities bring their Lost Souls Tour to Toronto tonight at Rancho Relaxo [News]

Toronto, ON – Tonight marks the fourth of 7 tour dates from The Extremities and their Lost Souls Tour. Toronto based producer extraordinaire, Fresh Kils, and Halifax hip-hop megatron, Uncle Fester, as The Extremities have closed the gap. With critically acclaimed performances, tours, countless collaborations and Juno nominations, you’d think they were roommates. But somewhere between Toronto and Halifax, The Extremities emerge from the studio, unified with lush, dynamic productions, and an incomparably live stage show. The duo have distilled their highly anticipated sophomore LP into a tight, well crafted album showcasing their love of epic instrumentals, blistering raps & vintage soul. This is The Mint Condition!

Featuring musical guests such as Ali Shaheed Muhammed (of A Tribe Called Quest), Moka Only, Supastition (aka Kam Moye), El da Sensei, Ohmega Watts, Ghettosocks & Rich Kidd, this is not an album you want to sleep on. On July 9th, The Extremities kicked off a mini-tour across eastern Canada. Accompanied by Halifax phenom Ambition, Juno winning veteran producer/emcee Relic and live musicians, the Lost Souls Tour will be a sight to behold with live PA hip hop performances and remixes. Toronto tonight – Waterloo tomorrow.

I knew of Fresh Kils and Uncle Fester individually but knew nothing of their collaboration and even less about their re-working of the CBC Jazz album Tonic. The result is a hip hop jazz fusion that is way more headnod-inducing than one would imagine..If youre not familiar with The Extremities this is a great intro to their sound although Id encourage you to go back and check out The New Tonic and keep your ears peeled for new music from the duo in 2010..
