JayKin’s Sneakers and Videogames Bonus Release (Live) [Photos/Review]

Vancouver, BC - This past Wednesday, Republic Nightclub was host to “Vancity’s nicest” MC JayKin and his Vancouver release of Sneakers and Video Games II Bonus. The follow up to the original album by the same name, S&VG II was previously released in Japan (Jaykin’s home away from home) back in September.

DJ C-Stylez kept only the illest tracks spinning on the ones and twos as friends, family and fans alike packed in the Granville street club patiently awaiting the man of the hour to make his way to the front of the stage. Kicking things off with title track “Sneakers and Video Games” and then making a “toast to the flyest ladies” with “V.A.N II,” Jaykin didn’t hesitate to start the night off with the appropriate amount of swagger. Backing the man up was DJ Seko who kept the beats running smooth all night and even cutting the track for a minute to let Jay drop a couple freestyle rhymes.

Although Jaykin seemed mildly dissapointed by the lack of enthusiasm projected by the city he calls home, that didn’t stop him from giving back to the crowd with major stage presence, fierce rhymes and even brand new Circa sneakers for adoring front row fans. Tracks like “The Ceremony” and “Japan Love” had the MC showing off his originality while “Shorty” had two overzealous drunk girls showing off their sloppy “booty poopin’” that ironically led the rapper to politley demand that they “go home”.

He may be considered Vancity’s nicest but make no mistake, Jaykin’s murderous rhymes and Seko’s deadly beats are a combination that make them a couple out of few who are killing the game in Vancouver. Jaykin’s latest album is free to download and is definitely one that will not dissapoint. Dont sleep on this album. Download Sneakers and Video Games II Bonus HERE and support your local hustler.
