DJ Symphony fields Submissions: I Love Canada Mixtape hosted by JD Era [News]
DJ Symphony is fast becoming one of our favourites – and he seems to like us too, judging by his plans to get Canadian rap and R&B talent on the I Love Canada mixtape in the popular Certified Crack series. “I’m noticing that Canada is on the rise,” Symphony reflects, “and when I was out there on tour with Ghostface Killah I had a chance to listen to some artists like Peter Jackson, JD Era and Camouflage, and I was really feeling their style.” On that note, JD Era – the first signed artist to Raekwon’s ICE H2O CANADA – will be hosting the mixtape, an appropriate choice considering that Symphony is Raekwon’s official DJ. Submissions are currently being accepted for what is sure to be a widely downloaded mixtape, so check out the rest of the details after the jump then send in your tracks to take Canadian talent to a global level.
The internationally known DJ Symphony received an outpouring of support from Canadian artists on his RadioInvasion.com programming. Symphony asserts that he was impressed with not only the music but also the hustle of Canadian hip-hop artists: “Most of the artists I heard were super dope, and now their music is in regular rotation on Independent Wednesdays.” Symphony also started to take more notice of Canada after seeing the huge response from the Drake vs Common mixtape that was released via HipHopCanada – 15,000 downloads and upwards of 50,000 streams. “The response for that was so heavy because the battle was so unorthodox,” Symohony explains. “One MC is very very underground and the other is more radio so it caught a lot of attention…which kind of sets up the I love Canada mixtape very well because Drake is from Toronto so that alone should be a great motivator for Canadian talent.”
