F-YOU: Forgiveness Project goes down February 26th inside Toronto’s Remix Project centre [News]

Toronto, ON – This is the sixth F-YOU Project set to take place – starting as a group of forty inside Toronto’s Remix Project centre, we’ve grown to a much larger group and much larger presence within the community. I invite you to come Sunday to The Remix Project (2 Pardee Avenue, Suite 201), February 26th 2012 in Toronto at 6 p.m. to an event that could possibly change your life.

News: F-YOU: Forgiveness Project goes down February 26th inside Toronto's Remix Project centre -

I asked two important people in my life to write about “forgiveness” – my mother, Ruth-Ann Muldoon, and F-YOU Project staff member Jackie Walker. See you all Sunday.

“I have learned over the years that forgiveness lies in the will. We must look deep inside ourselves (not easy to do) and “want” to forgive. Its so easy to fall into the trap of self-rejection. Its a long process but its very important to learn to control our emotions and not have our emotions control us. The same with “feelings”, we cannot allow them to control us! Feelings are just that “feelings” and nothing more. There is peace in letting our minds descend into our hearts and stand there in forgiveness.

I am reminded of words written by Rainer Maria Rilke; “what is going on in your innermost being is worthy of your whole love”. True forgiveness will allow for this kind of love.” – Ruth Ann Muldoon

“Why deal with Forgiveness when having beef seems to be so much more prevalent in the Hip Hop community? The founder of Forgiveness Project saw a need for peers and industry professionals to talk about the overwhelming amount of hatred, violence and the “hard knocked life” mentality that the industry dishes out.

In this ultra idolized world where we can see our kids and youth finding solace in knowing that they relate to a famous rapper on whatever front they are putting up we know we needed balance.

The Forgiveness Project represents a shift happening in our world. No longer is it taboo to talk about mental or physical abuse, self-hatred and depression. The Forgiveness Projects offers participants the opportunity to relate to a brother or sister in their darkest moments as a way to connect and strengthen our inner being and connection to those we walk our daily life with.” – Jackie Walker

We at the F-You Project share a desire to see more unity and confidence among our generation. In a world filled with anger and resentment, it becomes easy to harden our hearts to the idea of letting go. Forgiveness is not permission, or predisposed justification – it is the release of detrimental feelings, thoughts and emotions that can consume us. F-You is a multifaceted organization, which includes panel-based community events, a T-shirt line and a collection of journals.

The participants offer an impassioned and inspiring telling of their personal life changing experiences in forgiveness. We aim to feature speakers who have overstepped the line between being a victim and being a survivor in the face of their own internal and external adversities. A true showcase of strength and inner character, F-You will reveal how forgiveness is the power to heal yourself and others by resisting blame and granting pardon to those who have wronged us. With guest speakers from every walk of life, including the ever-testing entertainment industry, F-You will encourage and empower all of us to let go… if only for ourselves.
