Kardinal Offishall, Classified and Swollen Members amongst artists performing during JUNO Weekend in Ottawa [News]
Ottawa, ON – Ottawa hasn’t hosted the JUNO Awards (http://junoawards.ca) since 2003 but if you were in town back then, you were in for a weekend of concerts, parties, info panels and incredible opportunities to network. On the Friday and Saturday night before the actual award show, more than 100 acts will fill various venues across the city, and heavily in the downtown core. The line-ups feature a mix of local acts and current JUNO nominees from across the country.
On Friday, March 30, Ritual Nightclub (137 Besserer St.) will play host to performances by Kardinal Offishall, Classified, Zoo Legacy and Alex Silas. On Saturday, March 31, Babylon Nightclub (317 Bank St.) will feature performances by Swollen Members, D-Sisive, Philly Moves and Kool Krys & Bix.
In terms of the actual JUNO Awards, CARAS has announced that K’naan and JRDN will be part of the live performances for the April 1st event. Alyssa Reid is also set to perform so it’s quite possible P. Reign will make an appearance. Classified, Kardinal Offishall and Jully Black have also been selected as part of the night’s award presenters. Stay tuned for more info. Events will continue past the award show with The JUNO Tour of Canadian Arts taking place between March 26th and October 31st. Artists involved include Classified, Hollerado, Kellylee Evans, Lynn Miles, Mighty Popo, Gabriel Malenfant (Radio Radio), Shad, and Chuck Comeau (Simple Plan).
