End Of The Weak MC Challenge

Vancouver, BC - Think you know what it takes to be an MC? Come check the Western Canadian Finals of the End Of The Weak MC Challenge happening at Fortune Sound Club on Sunday, April 29th and see if you really know what’s up.

If you haven’t heard of this global hip-hop movement, first of all, get with it, but secondly and more importantly come  out and witness nine local MCs showcasing their skills on the mic, all vying for a chance to head to the Canadian finals in Montreal, QC. The winner there gets the honour of reppin’ Canada at the 2012 EOW World Finals.

Allow HHC to break things down to prep you for this event.

Your competitors:

Your Judges: Recently returning from the land down under, Killawatt’s own HEATWAVE.  Hopefully fully recovered from another epic and productive 420, EVIL EBENEZER, and last but certainly not least, Swollen Members’ heavy hitting PREVAIL.

Your Host: The one and only BLACK LION.

Your DJ: The man running things, head of EOW Vancouver operations, DJ MAKEWAY.

The Challenge Structure:

Round 1: Written Verse – 60 seconds, written verse over music of Competitor’s choice

Round 2: A Capella Verse – 60 seconds, written verse, no music

Round 3: Freestyle Bag – Competitor pulls 5 random objects and uses them in freestyle verse

Round 4: Beat Juggling – Competitor must rock with the DJ over 3 random beats

Round 5: Cypha Skills – 2 Competitors go back and forth for 4 bars each, 3 times

Each round is judged on the following skills: Lyrics, Creativity, Stage Presence, Delivery/Flow and Crowd Response

You are now up to speed on what’s to come, study up and come show love to your favourite MC.

Check back on HHC post-competition for the results and get to know your Champ a little better before they’re off to Montreal. Get behind our Canadian talent Vancity!
