6 months later: Matt Garner murder in Montreal remains unsolved [Tribute/Video]

As we approach the 6 month mark of Matt Garner aka Dutch’s death (May 11th), we would like to both celebrate his life and raise awareness about the case in hopes of getting closer to finding those responsible for his death. Dutch’s family is encouraging all media outlets to cover his story and bring it back to the surface. Please send this to anyone you think can help spread the word.

Montreal, QC – At the second edition of the Montreal Hip-Hop Awards this past weekend, a special tribute was given in honor of our good friend and industry leader, Matt “Dutch” Garner, founder of EscapeMTL, a respected concert promoter and talent manager. Following the moving tribute came a standing ovation, showing the love and respect of his peers and friends.

Tribute/Video: 6 Months Later - Matt Dutch Garner murder remains unsolved -

Nearly six months after he was tragically and senselessly killed, his legacy continues to inspire the community to come together more than ever before, including a number of positive events to celebrate his life, and a continuous outpouring of loving messages on his Facebook page wall.

We wish to thank everyone for their unwavering support of his family and friends, and for keeping his dream, his passion, and his vision alive. We would also like to thank Success Clothing for the Dutch hoodie project, The Narcicyst and Concordia University for the Slang Rap Democracy summit, Nick Fury of K103.7FM Radio for his unwavering support of the local hip-hop scene, Labnoise for creating the video, and all of the local and international artists who have expressed their love and support and have paid tribute to him through their music and videos.

This video is a testament to the positive things his friends and industry peers have been doing since he left us. We ask that you please share this video in honour of Matt “Dutch” Garner and everything he stood for. We must continue to spread messages against violence and hate in an effort to prevent the loss of anyone else within our community, and beyond.
