Making sense of the ever evolving Chris Brown x Drake x Meek Mill situation [Article]

Update (12:00 p.m. EST): New updates available here.

New York, NY – Around and around it goes. The facts surrounding the beef at W.i.P. have been hard to keep up with. First the talk was Drake had attacked Chris Brown. That was then shot down after a statement was released from Drake’s camp, and Maybach Music artist Meek Mill was replaced as the main villain. Meek Mill denied the claims but the rumors persisted as photos of an injured Breezy bodyguard and an innocent bystander emerged. Thursday night, Meek had clearly started to lose his patience with things and took to Twitter: “Stop tryna blame da bullshit on me…I was just there like everybody else.”

But Chris Brown tweeted at Meek Mill with a positive message that made any beef seem unlikely. He wrote “Me and @MeekMill ain’t on that bullshit. Real respect Real….” to which Meek added “Naw we just getting money!” So Meek was basically just there, along with Fabolous, Trey Songz, Juelz Santana, Adrienne Bailon, Chris Brown’s model girlfriend Karrueche Tran, and more.

Reports are now showing that Chris Brown has spoken with NYC authorities and is currently being considered by them as a witness and victim. Not only that, Chris Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos has apparently presented evidence to the NYPD to prove Drake and Meek Mill were the aggressors. So the confusion continues considering TMZ published that report several hours after Chris Brown and Meek Mill publicized their peace on Twitter. It also contradicts an eye witness account given to Complex Magazine by Telli of Ninjasonik. According to Telli, the entourages definitely went at it, but Drake was not to blame: “Drake wasn’t in the middle of that shit, though. Like I said, when we was over there, they got into it. He wasn’t fighting. He wasn’t wilding like that.” Some people have claimed that Drake flipped Breezy the bird and it escalated from there.

Telli also reinforces the idea that Meek Mill is getting blamed without merit: “Niggas trying to throw that nigga Meek in there. That nigga wasn’t involved in that shit. He wasn’t in the middle of that.” TMZs report goes on to say that “Drake has been ‘cooperating’ with authorities but we do not know if he has spoken to cops.”

One thing is for sure, several tweets have stirred the pot of confusion on what actually happened. Juelz Santana, linked to the altercation by various websites, jumped on Instagram with a pic of himself with Drake from earlier in the evening, along with the quip: “U think drake a pull some shit like that ya never nooooo LOL”

Reps Up/OVO artist P. Reign dropped his own throughts on the melee: “Chris Brown got a taste of his own medicine … We aint no rihannas ni99a Lol. That’s my one comment about this shit I’m done.”

A question on people’s minds is why the incident occurred at all. There has been claims both supporting and denying the Rihanna theories but it’s hard to know for sure. Some sites are claiming a member of Chris Brown’s entourage goaded the fight with his behaviour towards Drake and company throughout the evening. Again, 10 different sites seem to be reporting 10 different things. At this point we’re just juggling the information put forward.

What we do know is that there has been tension brewing between the different camps. Towards the end of May, Chris Brown, Meek Mill, Drake and Rihanna subliminally tweeted at each other after Meek Mill questioned being removed from Chris Brown’s “Don’t Judge me” tune:

@MeekMill: “U took me off ya song cause she let me watch da throne! #dreamsandnightmares”

To which Breezy replied:

@ChrisBrown: “She’s a dream chaser! There are a lot of dreamers so she’ll be running forever!”

Which was eventually followed by Drizzy’s:

@Drake: “Oh that’s your ho? That’s our ho too. Lol”

GlobalGrind has the tweets broken down for your viewing here.

So does it have something to do with verses being pulled? People catching feelings over Rihanna? All in all, the story behind the drama continues to unfold. It’s unclear if charges will be laid. At the very least, Chris Brown’s bodyguard Big Pat was seen in good spirits after a gruesome photo of his injury appeared online. Hopefully the young Australian girl caught in the bottle crossfire has a speedy recovery.

Stay tuned.
