Ottawa Bluesfest: Nation’s capital prepares for “biggest night in Ottawa hip-hop history” [News]
Ottawa, ON – Today will mark one of the biggest nights in Ottawa’s hip-hop history as some huge artists descend on the nation’s capitol for Ottawa Bluesfest. Snoop Dogg headlines at 9:30 p.m. on the main stage which will also see a performance from Harlem’s A$AP Rocky earlier at 7:30. Zoo Legacy opens at 6 p.m. on the Claridge Stage where Lauryn Hill will perform at 8. Meanwhile, on the Electro Stage, Chali 2na of Jurassic 5 will be on at 7:30 and then followed by Deltron 3030 at 9:30. Deltron 3030 is an alternative-rap group which consists of Del the Funky Homosapien, Dan the Automator and Montreal’s DJ Kid Koala.
When the Bluesfest festivities are done for the evening, make your way over to Ottawa’s Ritual Nightclub (137 Besserer St.) for the Into the Wild Tour featuring El-P, Killer Mike and special guests. Doors open at 10:30 p.m. so plenty of time to make for the show after Snoop finishes his set. As the Ottawa Citizen has proclaimed: “Between a stacked lineup at LeBreton Flats and Kapacity’s presentation of the Into the Wild Tour at Ritual, tonight may well be the biggest night in Ottawa hip-hop history.”
The fun doesn’t stop there. Big Boi of OutKast will perform on July 11th, A-Trak and DJ Grandtheft hit the Electro stage on July 13th and YMCMB’s Tyga hits the same stage the next day on July 14th. On the festival’s final day, fans will be treated to performances by K’naan and OVOXO sensation, The Weeknd, amongst various other acts.
