Madchild’s Dope Sick album hits #1 spot on iTunes Canada charts [News]
Vancouver, BC – Not even 12 hours into the release of Dope Sick by Madchild and the album has already hit the #1 spot on the iTunes Canada album charts. And not just for hip-hop… that’s for all genres! We had sent out a tweet early this morning shortly after the album pulled into the #2 spot on the iTunes Canada hip-hop charts. At that point it was also ranked #14 for all genres.
The project’s rapid success could be partly attributed to a highly impressive ‘pre-order’ campaign that encouraged fans to lock in their purchase in advance for a chance to win a Madchild prize pack that included hundreds of dollars in gear, a Swollen Members platinum plaque, a Swollen Members Juno award and a signed copy of Dope Sick. This contest was then heavily promoted through social media by the legions of the Battle Axe Warriors members based around the world. In the past few months, Madchild and the Battle Axe team have given fans a chance to become official members of the club – these club members must apply and show how they’re active members of their community, and not just couch potatoes, so to speak. To register please visit BattleAxeWarriors.net. There’s a video from Madchild after the jump that discusses the movement.
Canadian residents can order on iTunes here and our US viewers can order here.
