Vancouver’s Ill Tone releases new Hope? EP [News]

Vancouver, BC – From Vancouver’s Ill Tone (@ill_tone) comes Hope? EP, a 4-song preview of his upcoming full length, debut album. The EP features Jasmin Parkin of Mother Mother, Kyprios, Skryptcha of Obese Records (AUS), and a handful of other talented vocalists / musicians. This project is available on Bandcamp where fans can name their own price. The EP is a collection of well written lyrics over catchy, boom bap beats with some pop influence. Expect lots of live instrumentation, in addition to skillful record cuts by Ill Tone’s DJ, DJ Optimus Prime.

Since his last release, Dirty Old Mixtape, Ill Tone has had the opportunity to open for Tha Alkaholiks, Jeru the Damaja, The Boom Booms, and very recently, Talib Kweli. He’s been busy crafting this project, as well as the full-length album which will follow in early 2013. The lyrics on the album, for the most part, are centred around remaining hopeful through dark times of drug use and personal struggle, although he doesn’t hesitate to touch on the subjects of nature, politics, and performing live under sub-par circumstances! If you like the Hope? EP, you will love the album, Bringin’ the Hope Back.
