2012 Polaris Music Prize to be announced on Monday, Sept. 24 [News]

Toronoto, ON – The 2012 Polaris Music Prize will be announced this coming Monday, September 24th. The award is given to the best Canadian album of the year based on artistic merit without regard to genre, sales history or label affiliation. The winner is determined by 11 music critics selected from a larger juror pool of over 200 Canadian music journalists and broadcasters. Drake and Cadence Weapon represent hip-hop on the list of 10 projects ‘short-listed’ earlier this year. Grimes, step-sister of Compton-based Vancouver rapper Jay Worthy, is also on the Polaris Short List.We’ll announce the winner once the event is complete so stay tuned!
