Big Sean announces Detroit mixtape and Canadian tour [News]

Detroit, MI- It’s going to be a very busy next few months for Big Sean. Last week, he announced he’ll be releasing his new mixtape, Detroit on September 5th. The video of the announcement is below, and it shows him sitting in a room alone with a snake draped around his neck. I’m not sure what the significance of the snake is but it looks cool. Big Sean will be gracing Canada with a tour for the entire month of September and he’s calling it Canada Is Finally Famous. His Twitter account revealed that us Canadians will be the first to hear new material from the Detroit mixtape and his G.O.O.D. Music album, Cruel Summer.

Sean makes a stop in my city, Toronto, on September 21st so you can count on me being in the building for that! Cruel Summer was originally planned for August 7th but the date has been pushed back to September 18th. Hopefully this new date sticks. If all this isn’t enough, Big Sean has his sophomore album coming out later this year. Hit the jump for the Toronto tour flyer and click here to purchase tickets.

Natasha was born and raised in Toronto. She graduated from York University almost 2 years ago and since then has co-founded a youth led, social enterprise called The Next Edition which uses media and art to engage youth with their community. For the past year and a half she has been working with young aspiring artists who are looking for a way to showcase their skills and have their voice heard. With juggling weekly meetings, managing a website, and planning events for hundreds of people Natasha takes refuge in urban music. Researching and knowing the latest headlines, and newest tracks in the hip-hop world is something that she loves. But more importantly for her hip-hop is a lot more than just a genre of music, it is a culture and it has shaped who she is today. Finding a way to combine her passion for music, the knowledge she has gained from working with young people and the issues she has seen in the community is a goal Natasha would like to achieve in the near future. Recently, Natasha has taken on PR work for rappers and DJs.
