Classified featured on NHL 13 soundtrack [News]

Enfield, NS – There might not be a full NHL season this year but as far as EA Sports’ NHL game series is concerned, the show must go on. Today marked the release of NHL 13, with Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux donning the cover. And while the NHL 12 soundtrack didn’t feature any hip-hop, EA has brought in Canada’s own Classified to represent the culture for this year’s edition. His song “Run With Me,” off of the 2011 album Handshakes and Middle Fingers, was even featured in one of the game’s key video trailers. EA’s intention was to ensure that the game not only played, but also sounded like an authentic NHL hockey experience.

The true NHL hockey experience is about speed, power and creativity,” said Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music and Marketing for EA. “To create its sonic counterpart, our soundtrack features a mix of well-known bands like Gaslight Anthem, Anti-Flag and The Offspring, up-and-comers that include Battleme and Canada’s Classified and Monster Truck, and arena favorites like Zombie Nation’s ‘Kernkraft 400’ and Bassnectar’s ‘Pennywise Tribute’. We think fans will agree that this is the new sound of NHL hockey.

It should be noted that this isn’t Classified’s first appearance on an EA Sports title. Madden 12 fans will remember hearing “That Ain’t Classy,” his first single off Handshakes that peaked at #45 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart. Click here to download “Run With Me” on iTunes. NHL 13 is in stores now.
