Drake wins Best Hip-Hop Video at 2012 MTV VMAs [News]
Los Angeles, CA – Congrats due to Drake and the OVO team. Drake added another award to his resume earlier by taking home Best Hip-Hop Video at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Drizzy won for his “HYFR” video which was directed by Joseph Labisi and features Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Birdman, and DJ Khaled. Drake was also nominated in four other categories for the title track of his sophmore album, “Take Care” featuring Rihanna, including Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Art Direction in a Video and Best Cinematography in a Video.
There was also some other Canadian nominations this year including Justin Bieber, DJ A-Trak and his Duck Sauce movement, and K’naan for “Is Anybody Out There” featuring Nelly Furtado. From Wikipedia: “In its original airing on September 6, 2012 the awards telecast was watched by 6.13 million viewers and received 2.8 rating among viewers aged 18-49, marking the highest cable numbers for that date.”
