Toronto – Vancouver – Los Angeles – This Tuesday, October 16th marks the release of The Closers LP by Rich Kidd and SonReal. Presented by Black Box Recordings, the 10- song project was recorded in just under two months in Toronto and LA, with a stop in Vancouver in between. Approaching this type of collaborative project was challenging given the bi-coastal nature of the MCs operations. Instead of “mailing it in” via Dropbox and Skype sessions, Rich and Son opted for a more organic creative process, recording at The Remix Project and Metalworks in Toronto, and Truth Studios in Los Angeles.

I had the pleasure of being a fly on the wall throughout the conception, creation and release of this project, and attended several of the Los Angeles sessions during my time there. After three leaks off the project (“Best Believe,” “MVP” & “Money Money”) and four webisodes, The Closers LP arrives tomorrow (stream here now or after the jump).
