Macklemore and Ryan Lewis in Vancouver (Live) [Photos/Review]
Vancouver, B.C.– Fresh off the debut of their highly successful new album The Heist which recently hit #1 on the Canadian iTunes charts, Seattle natives Macklemore and Ryan Lewis arrived in Vancouver to not one but two sold out shows at the Vogue theatre.
Soon after Dee-1 out of New Orleans had a chance to warm up the crowd, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis came bounding out to a screaming all-ages crowd, packed on both levels of the theatre. They wasted no time playing fan favorite “Thrift Shop” – Macklemore even managed to find an eager fan’s fur coat to wear for the duration of the track – followed by a powerful performance of “Same Love” which also features the soothing vocals of Mary Lambert, an entire room of people reciting it with them word for word.
Playing damn near every song off The Heist and spending plenty of time speaking with the audience between tracks they closed out the night with the high energy track “And We Danced” dressed in the full cape and wig seen in the video, as well as “Irish Celebration” swinging the Irish flag high in the air.
Being out of Seattle has given Macklemore a chance to spend quite a bit of time in Vancouver in the past, even revealing his first time on a stage was right here in Vancity, and with the momentum this duo has going for them there will surely be plenty more in future.
