Mad Dukez & Fresh Kils – Monsters [Video]
Buffalo, NY – Just in time for Halloween, Mad Dukez drops off his “Monsters” video. The video was directed by Dominic Luongo and the song was produced by Toronto’s own Fresh Kils.
Mad Dukez and Fresh Kils met each other at an Atherton (Ottawa MC) concert. They started work on an album together, called Getting Gatbsy’d. It’s bringing back the Roaring Twenties and is conceptually based on the novel. But they keep making new and better songs for it, so it’s not coming out until next year. Rather than wait, they’re getting their trick or treat on and dropping five tunes before heading on the road with Blueprint on The Deleted Scenes Tour. The EP is called Monsters and it was produced entirely by Fresh Kils. Dates for the tour can be found here.
Director Dominic Luongo breaks down the creative vision behind Monsters:
“‘Monsters’ is a dystopian portrayal of the future pulling from a number of sources, some obvious and some obscure. The basic vision behind ‘Monsters’ is dystopian, a crapsack world view of the future and assembly line office work, that is until one day when Dukez shakes shit up. The main subtext of the video is the endless struggle between comfort and risk. It’s one of those difficult to answer questions, where there is never a right answer.”
Monsters was shot on location at the National Historic Site, Pierce Arrow Factory Complex in north Buffalo. The Pierce Arrow was a revolutionary factory that set the stage for nearly all future factory designs in the country. Much of the location has been preserved and re-purposed, but unfortunately a lot of it – like the area Monsters was shot in – is earmarked to be demolished in favor of parking lots.
