No Handouts Unplugged: JD Era to perform free concert Dec. 20 [News]

JD Era has announced a free concert for December 20th inside Toronto’s Mod Club (722 College Street). No Handouts Unplugged will showcase selections from Era’s acclaimed No Handouts mixtape as well as performances by special guests. Check out the official press release and flyers after the jump.

Toronto, ON(Originally posted November 28, 2012) Black Market Music Group Inc. (BMMG) along with ICE H20 Canada, founded by legendary Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon “The Chef”, proudly presents a special FREE ticketed unplugged event featuring JD Era. This exclusive event will take place tomorrow on December 20, 2012 inside The Virgin Mobile Mod Club located at 722 College Street.

No Handouts Unplugged

The evening will give fans a rare opportunity to see this rap phenomenon that happens to be from Canada up close and personal and will showcase selections from his 2012 mixtape release album, No Handouts, currently available on iTunes. This acoustic style performance will feature a live band, special guest appearances and hosts Ty Harper and Rez Digital of City On My Back. Tickets are limited; locations are available on, social media outlets, urban radio stations and the ICE H20 office. In the spirit of the holiday season, it’s our responsibility to give back to the community, all non-perishable food items will be accepted as entrance fee at the door.

About JD Era

Since being named Champion at the Marc Ecko Freestyle Competition, JD Era has performed alongside artists like Nas, Gza, Kardinal Offishall, Tyga, Drake, Method Man, Red Man, Raekwon, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Gucci Mane, The Clipse, Mac Miller, Terminology, Currensy and Freddie Gibbs to name a few. It became apparent that he was garnering even more recognition when he was nominated for two DJ Stylus Awards and took home the hardware for Best Rap at the Toronto Independent Music Awards. His freestyle prowess was highlighted once again when he was crowned the winner of the TAG Records’ Survival of The Freshest competition, solidifying his freestyle champion designation. In addition, his late summer street release, “Coming to America,” was nominated as Best Mixtape for Flow 93.5’s Real Frequency Award. With 5 solid mix tapes and videos releases under his belt for “You Know This”, “Fame & Fortune” off the Th1rte3n mixtape, Era has charted on Much Music and other notable music countdowns. In 2011, Era secured the theme song spot on The Score network’s “Court Surfing”, an NBA program broadcast across Canada as well as the Footlocker Nike commercial “Comeback Season” ft. NHL Hockey Player PK Subban & NBA Player Tristan Thompson.

After multiple appearances with Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon “The Chef”, Era also put in some work on the Killer Bee’s latest project “Unexpected Victory” with 5 features and 2 lead videos for tracks “Just A Toast” & “Soldier Story”. “Unexpected Victory” has gained Era a tour with Raekwon. They’ve completed a 13-date Canadian tour across Canada and wrapped up a 40-date U.S Tour which lead up to Era’s release “No Handouts” mixtape album, released April 16th 2012 and aptly referred to as 416.
