SD The Scholar – Psychiatric Minds [Video]

Ottawa, ON – We’re definitely a fan of this guy! SD The Scholar drops off the video for his new “Psychiatric Minds” single. “Over the Nock Nock-produced track, SD reveals the thoughts of the unknown and unaccounted minds.” Jason Matos was brought in to direct the video and highlight the mystery and fear surrounding our understanding of UFO sightings.

The song is the first single off SD the Scholar’s mixtape by the same title, The Psychiatric Minds: The Road to Soul. This release kicks off a countdown to his upcoming album, The Soul Project, which will drop February 2013. Check out the visuals below and you can find the official press release after the jump.

In a world where chaos has been on a rise, natural disasters have been at their highest and fear has been instilled everywhere this year by the Mayan calendar predictions, Ottawa-based artist SD the Scholar has released the incredibly telling visuals for his latest single “Psychiatric Mind”. Over the Nock Nock produced track, SD reveals the thoughts of the unknown and unaccounted minds.

As the video opens up with real media clippings of supposed UFO sightings, SD appropriately opens the track with the line “strange things in the sky…” The video for “Psychiatric Mind” explores the strange phenomena and influx of reported ‘alien’ sightings that have raised fear in our society for years. Director Jason Matos highlights mystery and fear with images of SD in various fields and forests and juxtaposes them with media images of these alleged strange sightings. With quick-flashing images piercing the screen, Matos creates an atmosphere in which SD the Scholar’s lyrics are elevated and become more daunting.

“Psychiatric Mind” is the first single off SD the Scholar’s mixtape of the same title, The Psychiatric Minds: The Road to Soul, which is a prelude to his upcoming album The Soul Project, due to be released in February 2013.
