Ottawa, ON – Today, Ottawa-based artist SD The Scholar has released his newest mixtape, The Psychiatric Minds: The Road to Soul. The independent artist, who is a part of the F.L.Y.E.R.S (Free Living Youth Embracing Real Soul) collective, puts forth a cosmic energy that transmits clean deliveries, lyrical prowess and thought-provoking content to create a vibrant story.

The Psychiatric Minds: The Road to Soul is a 13-track concept-driven mixtape that takes listeners on a journey to the known-unknown worlds of the universe, successfully creating an atmosphere that taps into SD the Scholar’s mind. Enlisting world-renown Jazz Liberatorz and Labmunk, SD the Scholar spits effortlessly over the jazz and soul infused tracks “Cosmic Energy” and “Indonesia,” respectively. SD invites Connecticut F.L.Y.E.R.S. crew members Jigz The Flyer to lyrically attack “Psychedelic Compound,” as well as Criss Lyric, alongside Swisha T, to mellow out the album on the Cloud 9 cut “DMT.” Meanwhile, “Plane of the Ecliptic” and “Solar Maximum,” both produced by Flying Lotus, allow SD to smoothly transition his lyrical content from the pen to the ear to create vivid storylines with a smooth, yet eclectic, backdrop.

As a prelude project to his upcoming album, The Soul Project, which is scheduled to be released in February 2013, the fearless concept of this mixtape is not only refreshing, but brings new elements to its structure rarely seen. With a completely cohesive track listing and a sonic landscape that falls into each other with ease, The Psychiatric Minds: The Road to Soul is a multi-dimensional mixtape that promises a new musical adventure for all.
