Enfield, NS – ["Anything Goes"] was the first song that I did for the album, and the beat was actually a beat that I made a year before I wrote the song but it was a beat that I just loved and I kept for myself. I do a lot of producing for other people too, but that one I was just, No! I’m keeping this.
Rhyme-wise, I wanted it to be just what it says, “anything goes,” there wasn’t a certain topic. A lot of times I write a song I’ll get a topic and I’ll stick right to that topic from the start to the end of it, but this one it was just more line-for-line. Like I said, this was the first song I wrote for the album so a lot of the lines were lines that I just came up with from everyday life–just one liners. Then I would go back home and think of another one. Song wise it was more of a lyric song: just come up with punch lines, metaphors and still be myself and represent what I talk about. It was “anything goes.” Whatever I wanted to say on that track I just kind of said it.
