Xzibit hits Langley and Chillawack on the Collateral Damage Tour (Live) [Review/Photos]

Langley, BC – X to the Z was in town for his Collateral Damage Tour and Evolution Entertainment snatched him up for a couple nights to blow up the ‘burbs. Clydesdale Entertainment and Evolution brought Xzibit out to Chilliwack’s Evergreen Hall on Tuesday and Evolution and Strictly Entertainment had the man hold down Langley’s China Beach the following Friday.

Xzibit

China Beach was hype. That Friday had a line up running down the side of the building  until Xzibit hit the stage. The place filled up quickly as the night jumped off early to accommodate the various opening acts. Local act after local act rocked the stage all busting brief yet concise sets which kept the night rolling and the vibe bumpin’. Big M.I.C., Kidd Savage, and Dead Alive were some of the stand out performers that got the crowd ready for the heavy hitting headliner but the opening act that really raised the bar was X’s boy John Conner. When he stepped on stage nobody in the crowd had any idea who he was, but we quickly found out. Homeboy went hard. Every track was a banger and his vocal output was maxed. He was belting it out to the back row displaying mad breath control – every rhyme was pushed out with intense force, yet it still seemed effortless to this pro. There were a few technical difficulties with the mic, and every song he kicked was completely foreign to the crowd but he had them eating out of his hand. Once his set had ended the house was ready for the main event.

DJ Invisible did his thing after John Conner finished and gave the kids some classics to nod to as they waited for the pimpest ride, Xzibit, to step up. When the beast entered the stage – fur parka in full effect and hypeman in to – the audience erupted. The big emcee with the even bigger smile wasted no time. Pushing his newest album Napalm he launched into it’s first track ‘State of HipHop Vs Xzibit’ and the crowd went crazy. He went from old classics to new joints giving us ‘Get Your Walk On’ before hitting us with ‘Forever A G’ and ‘Napalm’. A ways into his set he slowed it down to pay some tribute; DJ Invisible cut up a sick medley of Nate Dogg songs which lead Xzibit into his collab track with the late great Nate’s track ‘Multiply’.

Both shows were ill. Evolution Entertainment did some serious Collateral Damage bringing Xzibit to these venues. The homie damn near brought the house down at Evergreen Hall; literally, his bangers and vocals shook the foundation! All went well and many hip hop heads young and old saw a true West coast legend come through to show us how it’s done.
