Cityreal & Wes Mackey – Nightlife [Video]

Vancouver, BC – From the Good Morning Blues album with blues genius Wes Mackey comes Cityreal and their latest video “Nightlife.” A track that addresses some major issues including the controversy surrounding the Northern Gateway pipeline.

Says Cityreal, β€œIt was impossible to live in BC this year and not hear/read about the controversy over the proposal of the Northern Gateway pipeline. Since this track is about habits that negatively affect our lives in the long term, the idea was born to make this video about the Oil Sands. This project is an environmental nightmare that would see massive oil tankers and destructive pipelines pass through BC from the Alberta Oil Sands. The idea that Canada is allowing, and in fact encouraging the rapid development of such a harmful energy resource, at such a risk, was something I wanted to address.”

Cityreal enlisted the help of Greenpeace, who provided unlimited access of helicopter footage from the b-roll of a Greenpeace documentary shot by renowned Canadian film maker Peter Mettler. Early January, Cityreal and crew visited Fort McMurray with the hopes of bringing more awareness to the issue.

Hip-hop with a conscience – that’s the shit we do like. Check it out after the jump. Another HipHopCanada exclusive premiere!
