DJ Khaled – No New Friends (The Movie) [Video]
Miami, FL – Not quite a #YOLO epidemic but the “No New Friends” is picking up steam as opportunistic DJ Khaled ties it in to his forthcoming album, Suffering From Success. The new single is basically a spin-off and inspired by Drake’s “Started From The Bottom” smash single.
In fact, the new Khaled single is labelled as “No New Friends (SFTB Remix)” and features samples of the original song. “SFTB” had people singing “No new niggas, nigga we don’t need that/Fuck a fake friend, where your real friends at?” and DJ Khaled took notice. Once Drake hit the club with custom “No New Friends” shirt it was over. Khaled worked the magic that he’s come to be known for and suddenly his new album had a catchy new single driving the buzz up. It’s a good thing too since some conversations I had after the song was posted indicated that not many people in Canada were aware that Khaled had a new album on deck.
Now Khaled is taking the movement further by releasing a “short movie” with support from We The Best Music Group recording artists Ace Hood and Movado. Khaled discusses his plans and new albums before eventual speaking with Drake at club with suggested subtitles included. In short, it’s a video to help fuel the buzz for Suffering From Success and to help the newly released single take off. Drake really carries this track from start to finish but it’s only fitting since the song was inspired by his own single. Rick Ross and Lil Wayne do their thing but neither delivers a verse even close to the replay value of the bridge and chorus.
On to the main point of this post – “The Movie” – we won’t insult your intelligence by trying to pass this off as an actual movie but if you’re a fan of Khaled’s you’ll definitely appreciate the behind the scenes view of how he handles his business.
