Back in the lab: Red Dragons and Nonsense by Cam Smith [News]

Halifax, NSCam Smith is back in the lab getting ready to bless our ears with some new material. “The Red Dragon” tells us the story of Cam’s inner thoughts as he prepares to embark on the next chapter of his musical career.

Smith beautifully depicts a moment one winter afternoon, where he witnessed a Dragon Fly, born too soon, as it struggles in the harsh Canadian climate, simply to die a few moments later. He expresses his fears of ‘jumping the gun,’ and compares the rap game to that of Russian Roulette, stating he does not want to fly for a moment, to then fall because of a wrong move. But his time has come.

Just yesterday, Smith released the first single, “Nonsense” off his upcoming album Cannon, which is scheduled to drop this summer. With two more singles on the way, and a video for “Nonsense” in the works, Cam Smith isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

You can download and listen to “Nonsense” below and check out the promotional video for “The Red Dragon” after the jump. The video, shot by Tyler Ross of Our Dynasty Our Destiny, and edited by Smith, includes footage from the 2013 East Coast Music Week, where Smith recently won this years East Coast Music Association Award for African Canadian Recording of the Year.
