Classified, Drake top MuchMusic Video Awards nominations [News]
Toronto, ON – Canadian rappers Drake and Classified have collectively earned 9 MuchMusic Video Awards nominations. Only Marianas Trench has more nominations with 6. Drake’s “Started From The Bottom” was nominated in four categories including Video of the Year, Director of the Year, Hip-Hop Video of the Year and Your Fave Video. He was also nominated in the Your Fave Artist or Group category. Classified’s four nominations are for “Inner Ninja” (featuring David Myles) and the categories include Video of the Year, Hip-Hop Video of the Year, MuchFACT Video of the Year and Your Fave Video.
The other nominees in the Hip-Hop Video of the Year category are “Nyce 2 Know Ya” by k-os, “Jitters” by Madchild featuring Matt Brevner and Dutch Robinson and “Hometown” by The Closers (SonReal & Rich Kidd).
Other categories had some hip-hop related nominations including Kardinal Offishall in the Pop Video of the Year category for “Turn It Up” featuring Karl Wolf. There’s also The Weeknd’s “Wicked Games” in the Video of the Year category, Colin Munroe’s “The Fight Of My Life” featuring Pusha T for Post-Production of the Year, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “No Church In The Wild” (featuring Frank Ocean and The-Dream)” and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop” featuring Wanz in the International Video of the Year (Group) category, and Justin Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me” featuring Big Sean in International Video of the Year by a Canadian.
