Shad & Skratch Bastid – Homie ft. Cadence Weapon [Audio]

Toronto, ON – Whenever Cadence Weapon and Shad get together, great things happen. The duo collaborated with Torontonian music producer Skratch Bastid for a new tune called “Homie,” which is an ode to travel, airports, and tripping back home. The track features throwback old-school beats with jazzy undertones as well as Shad and Weapon’s tight rhymes and musings about getting toothpaste through airport security and WestJet’s sub-par headrests. Canadian hip-hop heads were blown away by Shad and Weapon’s performance of “Baby, I’m Yours” in 2011 at CBC’s Hip Hop Summit at Toronto’s Glenn Gould Studio. Not surprisingly, it was Skratch on the turntables during the set that day as well. We can only hope we’re not left waiting another two years before we get to see them all work together again. Check out the track after the jump.

“Homies” is part of the upcoming collaborative EP between Shad and Skratch Bastid, titled Spring Up. The EP will be available online before the end of the month. Shad also plans to release another full-length solo album titled Flying Colours which will also feature collaborations with Skratch.

And just because the first time is always the most memorable, check out this throwback video of Shad, Weapon, and Bastid performing together in Toronto two years ago.
