M.O.P with Pharoahe Monch, J-Live And Guests In Vancouver (Live) [Review]
Vancouver, BC – The Mash Out Posse – aka M.O.P – was live and direct at Vancouver’s Venue Nightclub for the final stop on their Canadian Tour. With Bronze Nazareth kicking off the evening, the place was packed with hip-hop fans from wall to wall. Snak The Ripper brought that crew love with Jaclyn Gee and Merkules while working the crowd with his signature rowdiness, getting everyone on their feet and hyped for the main acts.
J-Live killed it. MC/DJ/Producer – what doesn’t this guy do? He’s a one man show – literally – and had no difficulty livening up the party with cuts from his countless albums and features.
Whether you’re a fan of Pharoahe Monch from his early days of Organized Konfusion or your only knowledge of the artist is “Simon Says” there’s no denying that this MC puts on a performance of epic proportions. The proof was in the building as the packed house reciprocated that love, projecting it right back to the stage. Monch warmed the crowd to perfection for the leaders of the pack M.O.P to come in for the kill. As hype as ever, Billy Danze and Lil’ Fame brought their hard-as-fuck NY style and delivered it to Vancity in the most verbally aggressive way possible. They had the crowd eating from the palm of their hands, hungry for a little more. By the time they dropped “Ante Up” they had the venue hanging from the rafters. They shut down the club leaving fans and heads with a feeling of satisfaction – a late Sunday night in Vancouver at it’s best.
