The Music Biz teams up with Kardinal, Peter Jackson, Luu Breeze, Andrew Triple A [News]
Toronto, ON – Since climbing to #1 as the most downloaded free app on iTunes within the music category in February 2013, The Music Biz™ continues to gain popularity. To keep up the momentum, Hungry Eyes Film and Television Inc. & XMG Studios are excited to announce the release of the next iteration of the game, set to be released in September 2013
The second iteration will feature a much anticipated collaboration with hip-hop superstar Kardinal Offishall. Kardinal’s music will be available for in game play. The decision to bring on Kardinal Offishall was a “no brainer” said Sudz Sutherland, co-creator of The Music Biz™ and founder of Hungry Eyes Film & Television. “Kardinal is Canada’s hip-hop ambassador and it only made sense to team up with one of the country’s best hip-hop artists.
The next iteration, The Music Biz™ will also be teaming up with prominent names in Canadian hip-hop like Peter Jackson and Luu Breeze. Their exclusive beats will be available in the game. More leading hip-hop artists will be added to the roster in the weeks to come. [More]
The Music Biz™ is also pleased to announce the winner of our extensive search for the next hip-hop star producer, Andrew Triple A! He was the grand prize winner of The Music Biz contest – where we searched for the next big thing in hip-hop to win the grand-prize of $500. About Hungry Eyes Film & Television
Hungry Eyes Film & Television, co-founded by the husband-wife team of Sudz Sutherland and Jen Holness, tackle subjects that are cross-cultural, cross-genre and cross-media. Hungry Eyes has done pioneering work with hard-hitting films such as Home Again, a film about people deported to Jamaica from their adopted countries for minor criminal offences, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2012; and Guns, a television mini-series starring Colm Feore and Elisha Cuthbert.
As filmmakers, Hungry Eyes has brought a fresh and authentic perspective to cultural, economic and political issues in film. Now, the duo is focussed on developing content for mobile users in the black and Hispanic communities in North America — considered the fastest growing demographics in the new technology space. “We developed this game for lovers of hip-hop,” says Sutherland, “and that’s a larger group of people who are beyond a narrow racial definition.” The rise of online music and mobile gaming has brought a generic approach to content — standardized racing and shooter games that appeal to the widest possible audience. But as audiences drift further away from the computer screen and use the mobiles as entertainment devices, Sutherland sees an opportunity to develop mobile content that targets specific cultural audiences: “This kind of content falls below the radar screen of most companies.”
