Evrlove Blake responds to Kendrick Lamar [News]

Edmonton, AB – Edmonton’s Terrence “Evrlove Blake” Blake just dropped his own free verse titled “Artist,” in response to Kendrick Lamar’s trending “Control” verse. Blake decided to pen the verse after Breezy of Breezy TV challenged some Edmonton-based rappers to take on the verse. “I personally just wanted to show people why I consider my interest in being labeled a hip-hop artist [as opposed to a] rapper,” said Blake.

Most of the Kendrick responses floating around are from bigger cats on the scene. Seriously, have you seen that one that Joe Budden put out over the weekend? That was dope. But Blake isn’t too worried about being the small koi in the big fish pond. “I’m not really concerned about any backlash because the way I approached it was the same as I do any project: just make a real vibe and just make music,” said Blake. “That’s why I labeled the cover free verse “Artist.” So check it out and peep the lyrics after the jump.

Blake definitely establishes himself as one of Edmonton’s elite. His lyrics are ill. His delivery is swift. And he raps faster than most people even are capable of speaking. He’s successfully used Kendrick as a catalyst to show the Canadian heads what he is capable of. He’s not trying to compete with Lamar. He’s taking K.L.’s advice and bringing his own game to the next level.

Evrlove Blake – Artist (Lyrics)

Decades become of you/ Mentally and physical
Verses turn cynical/ Your progression is minimal
This’ll be a pivotal moment/ For you to think it through
Say you could?/ Well you haven’t
You good?/ You aint average
Opportunities passing/ Fucked up your standards
Fucked up and mixed up your hobby as a passion
Second-guessing in passing/Everyday what you lacking
This is only for killers so leave it up to the masters

Cold living for a n*gga traveling at the bottom
Transition perpendicular to all the views / I saw them
Relation to the game forced deepest foes to write annulments
Premature kings ejaculating all they thoughts without a condom /Ugh
(No condolence to the shooter, though
Everyone wants to be the man until the trigger’s pulled)
So what the fuck are your living for? / To follow trends like them Twitter hoes
I roll around with my day-one n*ggas/ Jenga bricks/ ‘Cause them snakes on ladders
Your flow cold/ But my river’s wetter
True-ill spells/ Trill sentences
Since Molly popped, them bitches sweating
Since Evrlove, these locals sweating
Evolving immortalized/ Skinny dip of perception of perfection
Live with no fear catch me venting
Pharaoh n*ggas/ Egyptian bombing new world army
Fuck it we mobbing goblins/ Lobbing, hopping, chopping
Money trees for the n*ggas that starving / Feeling the moment these n*ggas are talking I’m hanging it up
Passing veterans like its Tetris/My team benching
Kill them all forensic/ Intuition natural/ With preserves incented

But I aint the same as average Joes/ Swear progression is the essence/ Fuck I want it all
Ay ay/ What you n*ggas know?
Tomorrow is not promised to the too far gone
Ya/ To the too far gone
Milli trilli/ Fuck it I’m ‘a die to make the Forbes
Damn, but I’m all alone/ Whippin’ in this lane that a n*gga chose

Started at the bottom, though/ Aint the same as Drizzy, though
Only God will know/ That a n*gga working 24
I’m focused on my ends/ Like y’all thought I was racing, though
Indulging all this knowledge so my team can make this vision blow
Painting all them pictures / Young Picasso with a dreamers flow
Living on the edge/ Like y’all thought I was letting go
Same old women on a mission/ ‘Cause they see you about to blow
Yeah/ I’m ’bout to blow

Why these hating n*ggas/ Hate n*ggas?
You taking shots/ But you graze a n*gga
I dig down/ And I dig the dirt
Your lane spitting / With some fake interest
I make moves like real time/ Some n*ggas break with no spine
My team here / That’s real n*ggas
We build the base/ Them real bridges
The Illuminati/ Illuminati
Rockefeller/ Forgotten money
That’s L.O.A/ And I live that
I Mayweather/ And pivot back
‘Cause it’s my chance/ And I get that
I make music/ Not just rap

Can’t fuck with all these lame n*ggas/ But real n*ggas on a real lack
That’s Waldo?/ Alfonzo/ and I’m serving n*ggas like pronto
I’m an early n*gga Alonzo/ That’s leading scorer/ Carmelo
This shit here is all I know/ My soul connected/ Can’t let it go
To stop me I’ll die here /And haunt a n*gga in later years/ Ugh

Decades become of you/ Mentally and physical
Verses turn cynical/ Your progression is minimal
This’ll be a pivotal moment/ For you to think it through
Say you could?/ Well you haven’t
You good?/ You aint average
Opportunities passing/ Fucked up your standards
Fucked up and mixed up your hobby as a passion
Second guessing in passing/Everyday what you lacking
This is only for killers so leave it up to the masters
