Jigz the Flyer & Shariq DeVonte – Black Shampoo [EP]
Toronto, ON – Meriden, Connecticut’s Jigz the Flyer and Ottawa’s Shariq DeVonte, formally known as SD the Scholar, have teamed up to release their compilation EP titled Black Shampoo. Taking from the themes of blaxploitation soundtracks, the F.L.Y.E.R.S. (Free Living Youth Embracing Real Soul) collective members have created a lusty project in just six tracks.
Jigz and Shariq duke it out bar for bar, but not without creating cohesive and balanced tracks supported by the 70’s funk and soul production from the likes of Jigz’ alter-ego Jiggy Hendrix and Toronto producer LabMunk.
From “Vita Amorosa,” which roughly translates into the notion of loving life, to “Beautiful” and “Love Me” which explore facets of living, the 6-track Black Shampoo EP relics in heavy emotions, but also determination, power and lyrical strength.
