Shad kicks off Canadian tour in support of Flying Colours LP [News]
Ottawa, ON – Fresh off a string of sold out dates with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Shad announces his own headlining tour in Canada, with seventeen stops including his hometown of London, Ontario.
On October 15, 2013 Shad releases the much anticipated follow up to his JUNO Award-winning album TSOL, titled Flying Colours via Black Box. The new album is packed with charming, quick witted rhymes mixed with soulful hooks, and is self-described as “an album about everything, as per my custom, but most of all, I wanted to explore success and failure.” Thus, honest rhymes about life and social issues are entwined with clever pop culture references; a sense of gratitude and pride takes centre stage. Flying Colours is available for pre-order at ShadK.com starting this Thursday, August 15.
Tickets for the upcoming tour, which kicks off in Toronto, Ontario and ends in Victoria, British Columbia, are on sale this Thursday, August 15 through local retailers and online at ShadK.com. A special pre-order bundle including the CD and concert ticket will also be available.

Born in Kenya to Rwandan parents and relocated to Canada shortly after, Shad has nurtured a broad range of interests and experiences since his formative years. After high school, Shad put his nose to the grindstone and wrote his first songs while studying business at Wilfrid Laurier University. Sprung from his dorm-room and financed by the $17500 winnings from an unsigned talent competition, Shad’s first record When This Is Over was released in July 2005, and was characterized by overt introspection and social awareness.
When 2007’s The Old Prince was released on Black Box Recordings, critics immediately incorporated Shad into the dialogue among the most well-regarded MCs in North America. The Old Prince was nominated for a Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year and made the Polaris Music Prize Short List in 2008. His third album, TSOL, continued his thoughtful approach, which traversed soulful arrangements with sharp, progressive lyrics. TSOL was named a shortlist nominee for the Polaris Music Prize and won the 2011 JUNO Award for Rap Recording of the Year.
In the three years since the release of TSOL, Shad has kept busy in the studio, touring the globe, and he found the time to complete his Masters in Liberal Studies at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia. Not one to leave his fans hungry, he dropped Melancholy and the Infinite Shadness, a five track EP, last July. In June 2013, he followed up with a springtime collaboration with Skratch Bastid called The Spring Up, which also featured guest production from DJ Jazzy Jeff and a cameo from fellow Canadian rapper Cadence Weapon. On October 15, 2013 Shad releases his fourth full-length album Flying Colours.

“With a discerning, critical eye and disarming sense of humour, Shad is a truly balanced artist, carrying himself with an endearing swagger that’s free of pretense.” – Spinner
