French Montana turns up Vancouver’s Venue Nightclub [Review]
Vancouver, BC – French Montana ain’t worried ’bout nothin’ and neither was the sold-out house at Venue Nightclub in Vancouver at a show presented by #BlueprintLive. The NY rapper brought the crowd – made up of a majority of d-boys, wannabe thugs and straight Coke Boys fans – to their knees, worshiping the very stage he rapped on.
Dropping tracks everywhere from Excuse My French to Cocaine City the Bad Boy/Maybach Music man definitely made his presence known in Vancity, giving the crowd of plenty exactly what they came to see. While lyrically he isn’t the strongest MC, what he lacks in creative bars he makes up for with catchy hooks, laid-back swag and raw stage presence. Without even breaking a sweat, Montana got the room as turnt up as they wanted to be, rapping hard while blowing smoke and encouraging the inevitable chant “BC Bud! BC Bud!”.
At one point towards the end of the show, French was joined by the young Texan Kirko Bangz – who was scheduled to perform at Vancouver’s Fortune Sound the same night. Fans of Bangz tracks “Shirt By Versace” and “Walk On Green” – which both feature Montana – were treated to the unannounced drop by and a lil’ back and fourth between the two MCs. Of course that wasn’t the only on-stage guest. The best part of any hip-hop show is the rap rite of passage to have all the baddest females shake their asses on stage – and this show was no different than any other. The flyest and most attention thirsty in the room got it poppin’ on stage for the boy and had the male-heavy crowd left with their tongues hanging. The whole performances was live as fuck and the packed venue ate it right up. A successful show that will have Vancity white boys on a French Montana high for weeks.
