From Canada’s Walk of Fame

Rounding out the three-day Festival, the Maestro Fresh Wes and Friends landmark concert, celebrating the 25th anniversary of his groundbreaking career, will include performances from his JUNO Award-winning debut album Symphony in Effect. The album went double platinum when it was released in 1989 and remains one of the best-selling Canadian hip hop albums of all time. In honour of this milestone, Maestro is even turning back time in his concert fashion, dusting off the signature bowtie and black tuxedo style that marked Symphony In Effect’s iconic album cover. In addition, Maestro will also perform tracks from his 2013 collaborative album Orchestrated Noise. Special guests joining the concert include three-time JUNO-winners K-OS and Kardinal Offishall along with JUNO-winner Classified and more.

“Maestro Fresh Wes and Friends bring a high-energy level of excitement to Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival, and we are honoured to have some of Canada’s more recognized hip hop names join our stellar roster this year,” said Randy Lennox, President and CEO of Universal Music Canada and Talent Chair, Board of Directors, Canada’s Walk of Fame. “This will be an unforgettable concert.”

Natasha was born and raised in Toronto. She graduated from York University almost 2 years ago and since then has co-founded a youth led, social enterprise called The Next Edition which uses media and art to engage youth with their community. For the past year and a half she has been working with young aspiring artists who are looking for a way to showcase their skills and have their voice heard. With juggling weekly meetings, managing a website, and planning events for hundreds of people Natasha takes refuge in urban music. Researching and knowing the latest headlines, and newest tracks in the hip-hop world is something that she loves. But more importantly for her hip-hop is a lot more than just a genre of music, it is a culture and it has shaped who she is today. Finding a way to combine her passion for music, the knowledge she has gained from working with young people and the issues she has seen in the community is a goal Natasha would like to achieve in the near future. Recently, Natasha has taken on PR work for rappers and DJs.
